Leave your name and:
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle with you in.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST. It is written.

05:10 pm - Fund raising info for my Marathon.
Reposted from my blog. Since I'm not sure some of you guys subscribe to the rss feed [info]mirzurss, and a few of you expressed interest in giving.

Well I finally got my fund raising page set up. Click here to donate to HDSA. Read more... )

Huntington's is a terrible disease that profoundly affects not only those afflicted, but also the lives of all who care for them. There is currently no effective treatment and it is 100% fatal.

There is hope, however. Many promising new treatments are being researched and your donations can make a real difference.

You can find more information about the disease here. For a more personal take on things, check out this blog. It contains many great news articles and stories.

On a lighter note, I'm putting the "fun" back in "fundraising!" In order to entice your donations I'm going to be printing my own t shirts, and allowing the top six contributers to decide what will go on it. You can make it funny, somber, silly, dumb, or any variation thereof. Not only will I run 26.2 miles for this cause, I'll let you decide what will be on my body while I do it! The top 2nd-6th contributors will share the front of my shirt, with my race number and the 1st will my entire back at their mercy.

Thank you all in advance for your support.

I'm running a marathon!

It's far, yo! Like, 26.2 miles far. Not only that but the training group I hooked up with seems to be comprised strictly of multi-marathon runners. I am the beginer group. They seem like good people, however, and they'll either whip me right into shape, or I'll die. More news as events warrant.

Beyond the glory of being able to say I've run a marathon, my biggest motivation for doing this is the opportunity to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America.

Huntington's Disease(HD) is a devastating, degenerative brain disorder for which there is, at present, no effective treatment or cure. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual's ability to walk, think, talk and reason. Eventually, the person with HD becomes totally dependent upon others for his or her care. Huntington's Disease profoundly affects the lives of entire families: emotionally, socially and economically. Onset is usually in the 30's or 40's, and is 100% fatal. The children of affected parents have a 50% chance of carrying the gene, and everyone who charries the gene develops the disease. Yeah, it's a downer.

I'm raising money for this terrible disease becuase if has profoundly affected someone who is very close to me. Please don't ask me who, as they have asked me to keep that information private. You can find more info here, or you can just ask me, as I've been reading up on it for a while. Also, I'll specific fundraising info, soon, including a link to a site where you can donate directly.

My goal is to raise $2,620 ($100 per mile that I'll be running) by the Marathon in October. I'll be printing my own shirt for the race, and the top donor will have the honor of choosing what will be written across my back. The next top 5 donors will get their names, or whatever else they want printed on the front. I'm sure you can all think of something you'd like to write on me. ;) I will also be holding a fundraising party some time soon; keep your eyes and ears (and wallets) open.

Wish me luck!
